The photograph shows Victorian Railways trams 40 at the Brighton Beach terminus. Tram has Robur tea adverts. Photo early 1950s. Note the device or hood in the overhead at the end of the trolley wire to assist crews to put on the trolley pole on the wire at night. Similar devices were used to shield any flash during WW2 blackouts.
