The photograph shows MMTB trams W5 class No. 757 (Route 19) and SW6 class No. 861(route 20) southbound in Elizabeth between Victoria St and Therry St. In the background are a used car dealer, Arrow Engraving, Vealls for Westinghouse Refrigerators, a Holden Dealer and the Argus building. Tram 861 has a three-hole dash canopy and based on the dates of fitting a headlight in July 1954, photo taken early 1950s. Note the relatively wide safety zone stop marking for passengers from Victoria Market.
