Historical information
The photograph shows X class tram Birney No. 218 and W2 class No. 345 at Elsternwick Station in Glen Huntly Road. Tram 345 is running a route 4D to the city, while 218 is reversing for its next run to Point Ormond. In the background is another W2, the level crossing signal box and the railway square overhead. The cross over can be seen in the bottom area of the photo. Photo possibly mid-1950s.
