The photograph is undated, but is thought to have been taken before 1921 (when Joseph Shepherd died and his store was inherited by Alf Darling). Criterion House is occupied by a "Cash Dealer" - suggests photograph was taken before Murrells had their newsagency there.
Physical description
Black and white photograph of original photograph, which has been mounted on white card. Photograph of Sussex Street, Linton, shows the verandah of the Railway Hotel, Joseph Shepherd's store and house, and Criterion House. The Linton Economic Store (owned by Morgan family) can be seen further along the street, and there is a glimpse of the weighbridge. A horse and cart, and a motorcycle, are in the street.
