Historical information

Photo shows a lady and a gent looking at the output of an accounting machine computer printer. The type of paper used had holes on the side for printer control and used a dot matrix output, with perforations so each sheet could be detached. This type of equipment was installed by the MMTB during 1957 - see 1957 Annual report page 33 for the printer in use at head office along with other machines and item 4509 for other photographs of the equipment of the time.
Second photo shows a punch card operator at the punch card machine which were later used in accounting computations.

Significance

Yields information about the type of computer machines used by the MMTB during the mid 1950s.
