The BEQ (Bachelors Enlisted Men's Quarters) in Cholon, Saigon, was a significant location for Allied (especially Australian and American) troops during the Vietnam War, serving as barracks, supply points (like the PX), often sandbagged during urban fighting. The Canberra BEQ located on Chau Van Liem Street (formerly Tong Doc Phuong) was a well-known Australian BEQ in the bustling Chinese district.
