1. The St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne Nurses Graduation Badge has an outer darker blue border with "Caritas Christi Urget Nos" written in gold. The meaning is "The love of Christ urges us on". Within, there is a cut-out gold Crown of Mary, or Our Lady, the Patroness for the Sisters of Charity. There is a lighter blue banner containing The Heart of Charity, The Anchor of Hope and The Cross of Faith, all the symbols of nurses working under the guidance of the Sisters of Charity.
2. The Catholic Women's Social Guild Badge bears its initials on a round copper background of blue enamel. It has an insignia containing a dove on a heart shaped shield with laurel leaves and a silver star.
Mary Brennan may have nursed at institutions of the CWSG which was founded in Melbourne in 1916. It improved the lives of women and children in poor health such as the Santa Casa in Queenscliff run by the Sisters of Mercy.
