The photo from The Sun News Pictorial shows a cable tram traveling over the new cable tram track connection in Lonsdale St during the early stages of the conversion of Swanston St to electric trams. The photo appeared in the 31/12/1925 issue of the Sun News Pictorial, page 14 - see reference. The photo is looking east along Lonsdale St and would have been taken on 30/12/1925. Shows the nature of the work to install a new section of cable tram track to connect the east and west sides of the street and that trams were run as soon as possible. See item 8683 for a photo showing the work that was well advanced at this intersection.
