These photographs record the sale of the vacant land of the former Shorten Brothers Store on the Corner of Ballarat Road and Sydney Street Albion. The land had remained vacant since the store was demolished in the later part of the 20th Century.

This site was also the former site of the Shamrock Hotel. The first public meeting to create the Braybrook Road Board was held in this hotel. If you were standing at the store's counter, you would have been standing over the hotel's cellar.
