Steelweld and Industrial Engineering were two large metal engineering and fabrication companies that provided significant employment opportunities in the district.
In the background you can see the large R.A.A.F. No 1 Store and Invicta Carpets. In the foreground the residential houses of Maidstone and on the left the former Hill Street Braybrook can also be seen. Hill Street was taken over by the R.A.A.F. No 1 Store and the houses were subsequently demolished.
