Historical information
The St Albans Squash Centre was built during the major boom period of squash in Australia of the 1970's.
After the decline of the sport in the 1990's and 2000's, many of these local community squash courts closed and the buildings were repurposed for other uses. The St. Albans Squash Centre building is now the Panjtan Centre.
Significance
These former squash center buildings serve as a reminder of a time when the sport experienced significant growth, only to face a rapid decline. The challenge now lies in determining what to do with these structures that once received substantial capital investment.
