Photograph of The Esplanade showing the installation of Canary Island palm trees along the south side. Palm trees had been planted at Catani Gardens, St Kilda, in the 1930s, but from 1979-1980 more were installed in the 1980s along the foreshore roads from St Kilda to Port Melbourne.
