Historical information

In April 1994 Jim POWER obtained, from St Joseph's Catholic Church, the use of three abandoned classrooms at the former St Josephs Primary School for work rooms and storage for PMHPS. In August that year Museums Australia conducted a training session at these rooms and the Society commenced regular cataloguing sessions on Tuesdays and Sundays between 10.00 am and 1.00 pm using the blackboards to record important information.

In May 1996, the commissioners of the City of Port Phillip offered us space at Port Melbourne Town Hall, the Ward Councillor's room and the Councillors' room on the first floor and a storage room on the ground floor. The Society organised working bees to organise the spaces, setting up shelving and moving the Collection.
