John BERTI is the son of Joe BERTI, Mayor of Port Melbourne 1943-44 and a Councillor from 1934 - 51. One of the three locals who started the Port Colts Football Club in 1957, John is seen wearing his father's war medals. Note: the spelling of the BERTI surname was his birth name but was changed to BERTIE during WW2. The family has now reverted to the original spelling.
