Ephemera - Trip Slip - cable tram Bell Punch type - 1d, Tramway Board, late 1910s to early 1920s

Historical information

Trip slip to the value of 1d or 1 penny - punched by the cable tram conductor tor record each fare received. The Bell punch recorded the number of times a hole was punched in the slip. They were used by the cable trams until the mid-1920s when they were phased out and replaced by "flimsy" paper tickets. Printed for the Tramway Board (1916 to 1919). Has space for 15 journeys on either side. On the up fare side, has space for name Line, Date, Badge, car, time of starting and signature if a student conductor. A small piece of green card printed with "1" has been glued to the ticket. See item 1684 for another sample.

Printed card trip slip - blue and green cards, printed on both sides, with a small hole in the top. The green sample has been punched once for fare 8.
