This HMAS Cerberus tally band, or ceremonial cap ribbon with bow worn on left side, belonged to Lance Corporal Alfred GREGORY born 26/12/1932 3/711040 who was conscripted into the Army on 7/8/1951 to 13/11/1951. Served in the CMF between 14/11/51 and 15/8/1956 with the 8/13 VMR and PWLH.

Significance

A tally band is a black silk or cotton ribbon worn on sailor caps featuring gold or yellow lettering the identifies the ship or navy name.
