Historical information

Set of 6 photographs of equipment fitted to the MMTB vacuum tram or suction car No. 6 that was used to vacuum sand and dirt from the Melbourne tracks. Built by the MMTB at Preston Workshops in 1963 and used until 1973 when replaced by a road vehicle. See page 78 of Destination City for further details.
1 - shows the roof mounted equipment
2 - side dust tanks
3 - equipment in the centre section of the tram
4 - vacuum motors and air tanks
5 -probably main suction unit
6 - equipment and pipework in centre of tram.

Yields information about the MMTB Vacuum or suction tram No. 6 and some of its equipment.
