Historical information
The photo shows VR.1 (Second Fleet) with a “St. Kilda” destination sign, likely travelling from Brighton Beach. This tram entered service in 1907, built to replace the First VR Fleet that were destroyed by fire in the same year. They were nearly identical to the First Fleet (using parts salvaged from those) except for the provision of windshields.
