Postcard sent from Bruthen Victoria to Mr G Grant. Battens landing on the Tambo River was one of the last ports up river for loading goods onto steam vessels for transport to Bairnsdale , Sale and Melbourne.
It was also a drop off point for supplies to Omeo , Cassilis and other gold mining areas, these supplies were taken by Battens on a large horse team. The story of Battens landing is documented in a book "Battens Landing, the River Trade" (VTMH0043)
