Summary

When the body of the music-hall artist, Belle Le Fanu is found in Braxham Woods, the murderer thinks that the little yellow-haired woman will scarcely be remembered by the inhabitants of Braxham Parva. But during her short visit the previous summer Belle Le Fanu had shared briefly in many lives, and now, after her death, her influence continues to make itself felt.
