An article about a memorial being built to commemorate Australia'a war service nurses. It is due to be opened in October 1999 to mark the centenary of Australian miltary nursing. In attendence at the ceremony, amongst a large group of Australians, were Vivian Bullwinkel, Wilma Young and Pat Darling - three nurses who survived the 1942 Japanese invasion of Singapore and three and a half years as prisoners-of-war.
The photo description reads: "Vivian Bullwinkel, sole survivor of a Japanese wartime massacre, at the dedication of a memorial site on ANZAC Parade yesterday."
