Historical information

An aerial photograph looking along Lonsdale Street west from Swanston Street. It shows the completed 11 storey Myer Emporium (completed in 1929), numerous smoking chimneys and the high dome of the Supreme Court building in William Street. Also visible are cable tram tracks and a cable tram in Lonsdale Street between Swanston Street and Spencer Street. This dates the photo between 1929 and 1935 when the cables trams ceased running west of Elizabeth Street.
