Historical information
This house was architecturally designed for Mr. Headlie Shipard Taylor, the farm implement inventor and expert who worked for H.V. McKays.
The house was built in 1938 on two home sites.
After the death of Mr. Headlie Shipard Taylor, the house was transferred to "Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II" on the 9th April 1959.
The house then became the Young's Men's Family Group Home managed by the Social Welfare Department of the Victorian Government.
In 1975, it became the Sunshine Hostel for young men, 17 to 21 years old.
From 1986 to 1991, it was a hostel for young men and women for learning survival skills and general training under the direction of the Department of Community Services of the Victorian Government.
When the training centre closed, the house was put up for action in 1992. This auction was subsequently cancelled.
