Historical information
Introduced in 1974, the Braille Book of the Year was created to both acknowledge excellence in writing as well as raise the profile of Braille books. In 1996, the award was won by 'The Monkey's Mask' by Dorothy Porter. The Bathurst Award for Narrator of the Year award went to Humphrey Bower for the audio version of "Death of a River Guide". Presentations were made by Rose Blustein and others at the Commercial Road library.
