Historical information
Captain Pearce and Sister Rosa Waycott sailed to Egypt to serve in 1940 aboard the same ship. Their paths crossed again when Captain Pearce contracted cerebral malaria and was nursed back to health by Rosa at the Australian General Hospital in El Kantara. They remained in contact after returning from the war and were married in 1942.
