Photograph looks north along Swanston Street from Princes Bridge as workman excavate the cable tram tunnel adjacent to Batman Avenue. Two rows and a crossover of exposed yokes are seen as many suited bystanders watch on. This work was part of the conversion of Swanston Street and St Kilda Road to electric tramway in December 1925 and January 1926.
