Artists statement

Arthur Lock (1930-1997) was an Australian artist and architect born in Colac, Victoria. Lock lived in Greensborough and worked in greater Melbourne for much of his adult life. He primarily worked with watercolour and ink, painting landscapes, buildings and scenes from his travels in Australia. He had an affinity for the arid Australian outback and its warm colours and tones, as well as a passion for the gold fields. His paintings often show an abandoned homestead, hotel or other historical building. Lock exhibited and sold his paintings at local and community art shows during the 1960s – 80s.
