Document - Images and Text, Specification Residence - Campbelltown (Maxwell), 1933

Historical information

In 1933 tenders were called for contractors to build a house in Campbelltown, opposite the Campbelltown Hotel (now known as the Black Duck). This was to be the residence of John Neil and Annie Elizabeth Maxwell, who were to live at the 1766 Creswick-Newstead Road, and where Neil Yager Maxwell was to be born in 1936. This copy of the specifications was retained by the Maxwell family, who also listed the timeline of the property (building commenced April 24th 1933, house completed June 21st 1933, moved into dwelling Tuesday June 27th 1933) according to A.E. Yager who also listed those who worked on the site. In May 2023 (90 years later), the property was sold and the house still standing (albeit uninhabitable).
