In 2005, to mark the 60th anniversary of the end of WWII, the Australian Government presented the medallion to Veterans who served in 1939-1945. This one was presented to the St Kilda Town Clerk at that time, WH Greaves.
Physical description
Gold coloured alloy medallion.
Inscriptions & markings
One side shows the Commonwealth coat of arms and the words 'WORLD WAR II SERVICE TO AUSTRALIA'.
On the other side is a map of Australia and patterns representing the three arms of the Defence Force: Navy (sea), Army (land) and Airforce (sky). Above the map are the words 'WORLD WAR II'; superimposed on the map is '60 years'; and at the base is '1945 2005'.
