William Ford served as a Councillor from 1862 to 1869. He was Mayor of the Borough of St Kilda in 1865-1866 and also for part of the 1866-67 term after his successor in the role, James Turner, died in office.
William Detmold (17 October 1828 - 4 August 1884) was a noted German-born Australian bookbinder, printer and stationer.

Certificate: At the Annual Meeting of the Council of the Borough of St Kilda held in the Town Hall at Noon on Wednesday the 21st of November 1866 It was Resolved that the Thanks of the Council be presented to the Ex Mayor Councillor William Ford for the courteous and able manner in which he has presided over its deliberations and for the punctual efficient and honourable discharge of his duties as the Chief Magistrate of this Borough
