To increase parking for the nearby shopping centre, the City of Sunshine compulsory acquired the private properties in Dawson Street, George Street, Clarke Street & Withers Street. This caused some outage by many of the elderly residents and their families who lived in properties. There were many letters written to MP's including the Premier of Victoria. These event was extensively recorded by the local papers.
