Historical information
Work on the Kangaroo Flat and Eaglehawk open cut sites created much discussion about the environmental effects of the projects on the local communities. Bendigo Mining N.L held meetings and provided written information through information sheets and a regular newsletter to outline the mining processes. Community groups similarly presented their concerns to the mine regarding the environmental impacts that concerned them. Bendigo Mining N.L community engagement meetings and community representatives on the Environmental Effects Committee were avenues through which concerns were expressed by citizens.
A detailed account of the recent history of Bendigo Mining is outlined in the Company History. Bendigo Mining NL website: https://www.bmnl.com.au/goldfield-history/
