Book, Modern Practical Nursing Procedures, sixth edition by Doherty, Sirl and Ring in 1954

Historical information

One of the reference books used by Nurse Anne Carolan during her nurse training at St Vincents Hospital Melbourne in 1957. There are extensive notes, some handwritten during lectures, for example on voluntary micturition there is an eleven- step procedure on how to encourage the patient to pass urine. This indicates the detailed learning nurses undertook whilst working at the same time in the wards.
