Physical description
This medal is a commemorative piece issued to mark the 150th anniversary of the discovery of gold in Bendigo. Obverse features a central emblem with a crossed pick and shovel over a diamond shape and circle. the text reads 150th Anniversary of Gold - Bendigo - 1851-2001. Reverse depicts a detailed scene of an underground miner kneeling and working a rock face with a hammer and gad. in the background there is a silhouette of a poppet head and a small mine building. The medal is housed in a velvet case.
