Nathaniel Breakey McKay (1859–1924) was Hugh Victor McKay’s older brother. After the death of Nathaniel and his wife Emma, their son Victor "Vic" Rex McKay lived in the house. Sunshine's local doctor Gregory Peter Forristal also lived in the house.
He was a teacher, journalist, newspaper founder, irrigation advocate, and later a senior figure in the Sunshine Harvester enterprise.
