Historical information

Collection of black and white photographs taken aboard the hospital ship 'Wanganella' and of locations throughout the Middle East during World war II. There are photographic representations of Jerusalem, Bombay, and Gaza including the local people and landmarks and street scenes.

Physical description

Faded dark blue, cloth-bound album, bound with blue rope thread tied into tassles through two eyelets on the cover. There is a lighter blue whispy-lined pattern across the entire cover. Inside there are black card backing pages with photos of varying sizes attached using clear or brown photo corners (the last few pages contain photographs that have been glued in place). There is a sheet of glassine paper between each page to protect the photographs.
