The Battle of El Alamein refers to two major battles in 1942 fought in the Western Desert of Egypt during the Second World War. Together, they marked the turning point of the North African campaign and one of the most decisive Allied victories of the entire war.

El Alamein is a small railway town on the Mediterranean coast of northern Egypt, about 100 km west of Alexandria.
