Historical information

Located on Anzac Parade, Canberra, the Australian Service Nurses National Memorial commemorates the Centenary of the Australian Service Nurses who died and honours those who served and suffered in war since 1899. The glass artwork was created by Robin Moorehouse and was unveiled on 2 October 1999 by Sir William Deane AC K.B.E.

Physical description

The bookmark features 3 squares with the traditional colours of the Australian Army Nursing Service (AANS) uniforms and the Royal Australian Army Nursing Corps (RAANC) emblems: on top the Scarlet (Red) with the Australian Commonwealth Military Forces pattern with rising sun in silver, Silver in the centre with "A Century of Military Nursing" in black, and Grey with "1899-1999 / Support the Memorial to Military Nurses Canberra".
