The Sunshine Lions Club built the Elderly Citizens Centre Watt Street corner of Corio Street, Sunshine.
The Sunshine Lions Club built the Elderly Citizens Centre Watt Street corner of Corio Street, Sunshine.
The building works started in 1958 and the Lions District Governor Bill Burge Phillips laid the foundation stone and time capsule on the 12th February 1958. The building was opened by Victoria's Minister for Health, Ewen Paul Cameron MLC on the 4th March 1959.
This building which served the Elderly community of Sunshine and its district for nearly 50 years.
The building was subsequently sold to a church group and in 2026 the building was demolished due to the state of disrepair of the structure.
During the demolishing of building, the foundation stone and a time capsule from was recovered. The time capsule was located behind the foundation stone. The contents of the time capsule included a jar of coins and copies of the front page of the Sunshine Advocate.
