'Our 60 bound for Gallipoli'
Sixty World War 1 veterans are on a historic pilgrimage to Gallipoli to take part in the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the landing at Anzac Cove. They are being flown at Government cost to Turkey, with each state and territory being represented. The group of sizty were chosen from 370 applicant. A team of twenty-six, comprising five doctors and twenty-one nurses drawn from the Royal Australian Air Force and from repatriation institutions around Australia are accompanying the group.
