Set of 3 images of the silver-plated trowel, complete with hall marks used to lay the foundation stone for the HTT depot in Wallen Road Hawthorn, on 7/9/19015. Engraved with "Presented to D H Dureau Chairman Hawthorn Tramways Trust on the occasion of this laying the foundation stone of car depot & offices by F A McCarty Consulting Engineer 7.9.15". Photo shows the trowell was enclosed within a presentation case marked "James McBean & Son" of Elizabeth St Melbourne and that it was made in England.

Significance

Has a close association with those involved in the laying of the foundation stone for the HTT depot in 1915, D H Dureau and F A McCarty.
