The Federal Arithmetic are a series of mathematics workbooks edited by J. McRae and published by Whitcombe and Tombs. The books were written to meet the specific requirements for the curriculum in elementary schools.

Physical description

Textbook with thin red cardboard covers. The red covers have been covered in brown paper.
White paper with black printing.
Advertisements for other textbooks published by Whitcombe and Tombs on several last pages of the textbook.
The pages are slightly damaged along the edges. Some staining evident on many of the pages.
Handwritten notes on some pages and inside back cover.
