St Albans, Victoria’s 1888 land sales centred on the Cosmopolitan Land & Banking Company’s major promotional auction held shortly after the new railway station opened in 1887. The key event was the February 1888 land sale, which launched the speculative boom-era subdivision that became the early St Albans township.
