Functional object - Sunshine Technical School Trophy Cabinet

Historical information

When in 1991, the Sunshine Technical School merged with Sunshine High School, Sunshine North Technical School and the Tottenham Technical School to form the Sunshine Secondary Cottage (later Sunshine College), this cabinet and the three shelves of trophies inside were donated to the Sunshine & District Historical Society.

The cabinet has been repurposed as a general display cabinet with the top shelf displaying some of the original trophies.

Significance

School sports trophies are important because they recognise achievement, motivate students, build school culture, and connect young athletes to a long tradition of celebrating excellence.
