Booklet, Bacchus Marsh 1836-1986, 150th anniversary, souvenir program, 17th-26th October 1986

Historical information

An A4 size souvenir booklet produced to commemorate the 150th anniversary of British colonists arriving in the area where the township of Bacchus Marsh developed. The booklet contains a series of articles by unnamed authors. The articles include very brief biographies of early colonist Captain Bacchus, and Andrew George Scott (aka Captain Moonlite) a notorious criminal who was briefly an Anglican lay-preacher in Bacchus Marsh in the 1860s before his criminal activities began. Most of the other articles are brief features about local industries, and community facilities and services like schools, sports, the local FM radio station, and the participation of Bacchus Marsh people in wars. The booklet features many congratulatory messages and display advertisements from local businesses existing in Bacchus Marsh in 1986. Pages 18-19 contain the full program of events held over the weekend of 17-19 October 1986.
