Postcard - Cable tram Brighton Road terminus, early 1920s

Historical information

A cable tram set is stationary with gripman and conductor standing on the road next to the dummy. From the names on the rear, they may be related. The set appears to be outside a car shed (depot) with tracks running to and from the street. The destination sign shows 'St Kilda Rd' which suggests this is the Brighton Road car shed near the Chapel Street intersection. The uniforms and car signage indicate the Melbourne and Metropolitan Tramways Board. This line was closed in December 1925 and converted to an electric tramway.
