Historical information

This postcard shows a cable tram travelling on Lonsdale St in front of the Melbourne Law Courts past William Street, with the destination sign reading “West Melbourne”. It predate the electric tram line on William St (which opened in 1925).
1 - coloured framed version by BB London, impressed photo within card, printed in Germany, has a gloss finish, and the words "Advance Australia" on either side of a shield. Tram colours are pink and green.

Significance

Depicts a cable tram in the early 20th century on a now-removed tramway.
