Page 65 – provides the background of William Morley’s early life as a farmer in Lincolnshire, England, his emigration to Australia in 1852 with his then cousin Mary Ann who was soon to become his wife. Establishment of a transport contractors business which largely comprised delivering machinery to the goldfields from Melbourne. His marriage to Mary Ann in 1854 and their first house which was built on the corner of Farrell & Nott Streets, Port Melbourne. In 1870 William became the first Mayor of Port Melbourne [then the Borough of Sandridge]. He entertained the Duke of Edinburgh at his home in 1877.
