Set of 3 photographs showing the entry arrangements to Hawthorn tram depot prior to its simplification in August / Sept 1971. Work is possibly underway. Photographer unknown. Based on the work, possibly August 1971. Trams have been fitted with marker lights.
1 - SW6 886 - inbound in Wallen Road (Route 70), passing the Hawthorn depot - note the backhoe in the yard, the Hail Cars here sign on the left, and the work site near the top of the hill
2 - SW6 851 (Wattle Park route 70) shows the location of the tram stops that served the depot. Shows the track arrangement and the need to run against the traffic flow to enter the south side of the depot.
3 - SW6 886 - inbound near the first set of points into the depot.
