Leather holster made in 1916 and stamped LT J P FORD - On 24/8/1914 James Patrick Ford 476 MID from Sydney NSW joined the Army as a Bombardier. He was wounded at Gallipoli on 30/11/1915 and again on 7/4/1917 prior to being KIA on 3/8/1917 in Belgium where he is buried. His brother Cpl Paul Ford 7581 was KIA 12 days later on 14/8/1917. Their mother died when they were aged 2 & 4, their father remarried and died a month following his sons. FORD likely purchased this holster from the stipend he received following his promotion to Lieutenant, but was not listed in his personal effects returned to his stepmother.

Brown leather holster with front flap secured by brass hook and rear belt loop with brass hook.
